How it works

  1. Read the course on this site. The text, examples and quiz are open to everyone.
  2. Paid courses: enroll with a one-time payment. Free courses need no enrollment.
  3. Take the final quiz. It is graded on our server; you need 70% and can retake it as often as you like.
  4. Your certificate opens at once and is emailed to you. Print it or save it as a PDF for your records. It shows your name and license, the course, the PDH earned, the completion date, the instructor and a verification link.

Will my board accept these hours?

Most state boards do not pre-approve continuing-education providers. They accept courses that are relevant to your practice and, for online self-paced study, that end with a test, and they leave it to you to keep the records. North Carolina is one example: its rules credit Internet-based courses "provided an exam is required for completion", at one PDH per hour of reasonably estimated time (21 NCAC 56 .1705), and from the 2024 renewal require at least 1 PDH a year in ethics or rules of professional conduct.

These courses are not offered for licensees whose board accepts only board-approved providers, including Florida and New York. A few other states keep approved-provider lists or have specific rules (for example on ethics or state-laws content, or limits on self-study hours). Your board's rules govern: check them before you rely on any course, ours or anyone else's.

Questions

What does the certificate show? Your name, license state and number, the course title, the PDH earned, whether it counts as ethics, the completion date and quiz score, the provider (PE-Calc), the instructor, a certificate number and a verification link.

How are the hours set? Each course is sized so that an average engineer needs the stated time to read the material, work the examples and take the quiz.

Can my colleagues use my enrollment? No. A paid enrollment issues one certificate, to the first person who passes.
