Reporting a calculation error

Corrections are the most useful mail this site gets. If a calculator or table gives a result you think is wrong, please include:

• the page address;
• the inputs you used and the units selected;
• the result you got and the result you expected;
• the source you are checking against (textbook, manual, standard, or your own hand calculation).

Confirmed errors are fixed and the page’s “last updated” date changes with the fix. The site runs an automated test suite that checks calculator formulas against hand calculations and published examples. A confirmed error gets a new test so it cannot come back.

Requesting a calculator or table

Requests are welcome, especially for reference data that today exists only inside agency PDFs: FHWA HEC and HDS manuals, USACE engineering manuals, NRCS handbooks. Say which table or method you need and which document it comes from.

What this site can’t do

PE-Calc can’t review or stamp project calculations, give project-specific engineering advice, or answer questions about a design under review by a regulator. For that, engage a licensed engineer in your jurisdiction.
